Nylon 6,6(,Polyamide 66) specifically, is obtained from hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid via polycondensation and was the first commercially available all synthetic fiber. It has valuable properties- abrasion resistance, wear resistance, hardness, resistance to chemicals and fuels - which make it suitable to a variety of applications.

FLEXIBLE BATCH PROCESS
- The batch process to produce the nylon polyamide PA6.6, including the following steps:
- an AH-Salt solution is either created from the monomers adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine (HMD) or by dissolving solid AH-Salt with water.
- This nylon salt solution is pumped to the concentration unit where water is evaporated to increase the salt concentration.
- It is then transferred to the autoclave where the polycondensation reaction takes place. Additives can be blended to the concentration unit and polycondensation unit.
- In the fourth step, the pressure is gradually lowered with elimination of water and the temperature is increased to 270 ° C., which temperature is maintained during the "cooking" time leading to the final polmer.
- Prepared polymer goes to the pelletization unit.
- Multiple autoclaves in parallel ensure a continuous solid state polycondensation (SSP) after chip production.
