Fluidized bed Incinerators

Fluidized bed incinerators (FBIs) are advanced, high-efficiency systems that thermally treat sewage sludge, industrial waste, and solid fuels by suspending waste in a 750°C–950°C hot, turbulent bed of sand fluidized by upward air flow. This technology offers 90-95% volume reduction, produces sterile ash, and enables significant energy recovery.

Design and working principle

A fluidized bed incinerator operates by passing preheated air upward through a bed of sand or inert material at high velocity, causing the particles to become suspended and behave like a boiling liquid. Waste injected into this turbulent, hot 750 ~110c bed is rapidly dried, broken down, and burned, providing efficient heat transfer and high-capacity combustion, often used for sludge.
