Inline Homogenizer
This cavitron inline homogenizer product line combines our competences for high-shear mixers. Whether refining bitumen, in the chemical or food industry – SUNKAIER inline homogenisers are used anywhere where mixtures of substances need to be homogenised, emulsified, solved, or wet-ground.
Design and working principle
CIH-A Cavitron inline homogenizer works based on a high-speed rotor-stator system that creates intense shear, turbulence, and micro-cavitation to break down particle sizes to the submicron range. The device operates continuously in-line, forcing material through narrow, high-energy processing zones to produce stable, uniform emulsions and suspensions.

Technical data
Core Working Principle: Rotor-Stator Technology
The operation is based on the interaction between a rapidly rotating part (rotor) and a stationary part (stator):
- Suction and Propulsion: The rotor, rotating at high peripheral speeds (up to 50 m/s), acts as a pump, pulling material into the center of the mixing head and accelerating it radially outward.
- Shear Gap Processing: The material is forced through narrow gaps between the rotor and stator, subjecting it to immense shear forces that break down particles.
- Cavitation and Relaxation: As the rotor moves, it fills stator chambers, creating localized overpressure (approx. 10 bar). When the rotor moves past, the chamber opens, causing an abrupt pressure drop (relaxation). This causes microscopic vapor bubbles in the fluid to implode, generating intense shockwaves that shatter particles and disperse materials.
Key Mechanisms in homogenizer Systems
- Mechanical Shear: The high velocity gradient between the rotor and stator cuts particles.
- Hydrodynamic Cavitation: Rapid pressure changes in the micron-range create and collapse bubbles, releasing high localized energy.
- Centrifugal Force & Turbulence: High rotation generates chaos, further crushing particles.
