Rotary Film Dryer

RFD dryer, rotary film dryer, pecializes in thin film dryers (both vertical and horizontal) that use a mechanical rotor to spread material into a thin layer for efficient drying. These systems are designed to convert liquids, slurries, or pastes into solids in a single continuous step.

Design and working principle

Horizontal Thin Film Dryers

Horizontal models are typically used for materials that need to be conveyed through the system while drying, such as industrial sludges or chemical residues.

Operating Principle: These consist of a horizontal heated shell with a rotor equipped with fixed blades. The blades pick up the wet product and convey it toward the outlet while maintaining a thin film against the hot wall.

Moisture Control: these units can achieve final moisture levels of less than 1%.

Versatility: Beyond drying, these units can also be used for solid particle cooling and product melting (e.g., urea).

Technical data

The film drying technologies offer the following performance characteristics:

  • Temperature Range: Heating temperatures can range from -20°C to 400°C.
  • Pressure Range: Systems can operate at pressures between 0.01 to 30 bar, supporting both vacuum and atmospheric operations.
  • Residence Time: Product stays in the dryer for anywhere from a few seconds up to 15 minutes, depending on the model.
  • Self-Cleaning Options: Specialized rotors like the SK3000E are available for lumpy or sticky products that require self-cleaning mechanisms
